Just a quick post. We are glad to have a dismal second crop behind us and a fantastic third crop in front of us. I started on our smallest Orchardgrass field yesterday that had 53 days of growth. Dark green in color with a couple spots starting to lay down in the field from extra fertilizer in spots. Whenever we see the ground underneath the stand has a brown or white color, we're happy because that means that the standing crop is capturing most or all of the sunlight before it gets to the ground. This also helps suppress any weeds. This field should average somewhere around 1.1-1.4 tons/acre this cut. I'll let you know what it actually does in a few days!

Drought!

We've found ourselves squarely in a rather localized drought lately. We've only had about one half inch of rain since the 4th of July...
